Primy-prim-prims!

I go to an Assembly of God church.  In the Assemblies of God, the girls ministry is known as Missionettes.. The first and second grade class is called Prims...... and I'm the new teacher!

I remember the good ole days of being in Prims, and looking back on them brings a smile to my face.  We haven't had a regular Prims teacher since last July.. About 3 weeks ago, there were 4 little girls that didn't have a Prims teacher.. They had nowhere to go on Wednesday night.. When I heard about this, my heart hurt.. I felt like I should take the class, but, like so many others do, I figured someone else would do it.

Well, no one else did it.

I told our pastor and our Missionettes coordinator that I would take the class this past Sunday night.. I was then embraced in tear-filled hugs and thanked over and over.. It was then announced to the ENTIRE church that I took the Prims class.. There was mass applause.. I wanted to crawl under the pew.

I'm not blogging about this to get any credit for stepping up and taking the class when no one else would.  I'm blogging about it because I never in my life would have imagined that I would teach a Prims class, and yet, here I am, excited about it.  Some of the girls don't have families that attend church at all.. They just come with people, which basically means that if they are going to see Jesus on Wednesday nights, it's going to be through me.. That's quite an example to set.. to be the only Jesus that a little girl sees throughout the week.  I'm blogging about this to ask for your prayers.  Pray that I will be a role model to these girls and that I will be able to show them the love of Christ and truly make a difference in their little lives.  Pray that the things that they learn in my class will impact not only their lives, but the lives of their unchurched families.  Pray that God will use me as His hands and feet to show these girls that they are special and beautiful and loved.

On a lighter note, tomorrow night we are going to learn about the lost sheep and about how Jesus left the other sheep to search for the one that wandered away... and we're going to attempt to make this little diddy..

Isn't it cute?!

I'm going to make name cards for each of the girls to attach to the sheep to remind them that, just like the lost sheep that Jesus went to find, they are special and important.

I'm also going to substitute cotton balls for the q-tips, as I don't really want to have to pick up 80 thousand q-tips that were dropped on the ground at the end of class.

Wish me luck, and pray that prayer I asked for!

And remember that you're special too! =)

  2. How exciting!!! You may not know it now, but you were definitely called to do this for a reason. What an honor to possibly be the only example of Heaven these girls get to see every week! Please know that you'll be in my thoughts and prayers as often as possible...keep us posted!
